On my first read, I SEE AN AIRPLANE UP IN THE SKY is a beautifully written and illustrated children’s book about a girl wanting to fly. This resonates with me because I can’t remember a time I didn’t want to fly.
On closer inspection, I realized that Sheila M. Young has touched on something integral to each of us, child and adult. That something is that dreams are worth having and worth working for. Through hard work, dedication and determination, each of us are encouraged to follow our dreams. We should never take no for an answer. We are also charged with mentoring others on their journeys. If we open our hearts and minds, this book can be an inspiration for each of us in making dreams come true.
